Google, Yahoo & Microsoft

search_giantsGoogle alone retrieved more than half of the world search queries last month, gaining more ground on their biggest rival Yahoo. Microsoft still trails in 3rd, which doesn’t sound too bad but when you look at the numbers its sad – Yahoo’s searches add up to more than double of what Microsoft is currently luring people into.

The biggest buzz in the search world now is the new player Wolfram Alpha, which claims to be a calculable knowledge source, which calculates answers related to specific questions, rather than searching for them. I read many many articles and thought oh no for Google, but I just got done doing my initial testing and wasn’t too swayed. Google has an integrated calculator and other features that many people don’t know about or use. I use them regularly so its not to impressive that it will convert $20 USD to EUR in a flash…

None the less, its worth mentioning because everyone else is talking about it… but I am sure it will wear off by the end of the week, and hopefully for sure by the end of the month. I am not sure what this holds in store for Ask.com and AOL search, but one thing I am sure of is AOL was the biggest search loser last month as far as queries go…
