Yet another apps store contender!

g1Yes… the biggest of them all… Google is now joining the app store fiasco. They are launching a new section in their app store for Android phones that will allow developers to start charging people for the apps they download.

Comparing the best of the worst… Apple splits profits with developers 70/30. Google will be leading the pack however… giving all of the money earned to the developers straight up. Will this alone help drive the ‘open’ Android market? If not, I am sure that Google’s more ‘open’ standards will. Google doesn’t require apps to be approved before being sold, and either do its carriers. This could be good and bad, but its definitely a big step in the right direction.
