Hardy Heron

I have experimented with many flavors of linux over the years and Ubuntu was one that always stuck in my mind. It wasn’t until recently that I had the time to do some more experimentation with linux and perfect it to become a replacement OS for me. I believe I am now finally ready to use the latest flavor of Ubuntu – Hardy Heron and put it to real use. I am going to be using my Sony Vaio laptop which currently has XP SP3 installed on it, and because I don’t have all of my applications ported over yet I will at least temporarily have it dual booted so I have access to my ‘legacy apps’. I plan on using wine and Crossover Pro for those apps that I just can’t live without. I have already seen some very smooth GUI mods that I am going to impliment. One of the main reasons I am going forward with this project is because when I was testing Hardy Heron it seemed to run better than XP on the laptop. Under normal use the Vaio always ran hot with XP on it, and as soon as Ubuntu came to the rescue, it ran noticibly cooler. When I get this project started I will be sure to post screenshots of my new desktop.
