Money; The Microsoft Way
I recently had a client come to me because they bought an older laptop and needed some finance software. They weren’t concerned with with what it was but Microsoft Money was the first to come to mind; mostly because I remembered seeing it on the clients other desktop PC.
History behind it:
- Money was created back in 1991
- Money 2006 was the last release available for Win 98/ME, 2K and Mobile
- Money 2008 is the latest release
- Microsoft has discontinued releasing Money every year; There will be no Money 2009
- Microsoft Money is no longer available as a boxed product; it is now only available online. [except remaining store stock]
This was the most interesting because I was about to get the latest version for my Client only to find it does not support 98/2K. As I mention above, Money 2006 was the last version to do so. If you are in the market for an old version of Money then make note that you can find Money 2006 for roughly $20, or the 2004 version for closer to $7; both new, boxed and shipped. I went with the 2004 version as the ‘cheaper the better’.
