2006 all over again

If any of you internet addicts were alive and well in 2006 then you might remember the same sort of scenario – internet outages. What I mean by this is the main lines hiding in the Mediterranean Sea that bring the WWW to the Middle East and South Asia were cut. Back in 06 it more so affected me but my business hasn’t been disrupted too badly by this outage. ISPs rerouted traffic to help with the congestion and outages but it still isn’t enough to restore all the bandwidth that was lost. It could take a week or more to repair the cables that were cut. The cause isn’t certain at this time, but it is rumored that the cables were damaged by a ships anchor!

    UPDATE:

Well, it appears that more cables have been cut so that means even less bandwidth than the middle east and asia had before… if my personal bandwidth was cut to 1/4 of what it is I would still be much better off than dial-up ~ yahoo!

    UPDATE:

They are making repairs to the cables now as I type this comment, but it seems that there are other theories now in how the cables got cut; Here is one of them for you…
